I’m trying to decide between the Pioneer GM-X552 amp rated at 150x1 rms or the Power Acoustik OV2-300 Gothic Series amp rated at 170x1 rms. Please give me an opinion on what to go with. Any info is greatly appreciated, so please respond.

Power Acoustik is made by Soundstream.
Is that good or bad?
Mike
I have never used or installed any PA equipment, so I cannot tell you if it is good or bad. I have, however, used many Soundstream products and consider them to be very good.
people seem to be happy with power acoustik. pa and autotek would be as low as id go. either would be fine for highs, but as for power output for a sub… kinda skechy… all i know is id never pay retail for either.
i guess what would sell me is the price and warranty service.
trust Me I sell the PA stuff its not the best, go with pioneer its much cleaner more true power.
I have been using my Pioneer Premier GM-X822 amp (I think 80x2 or 90x2) for 3 years without any problems whatsoever. Great CLEAN power.
Never used PA, but heard mixed reviews on many many sites.

i have a power acoustic 1500 watt amp fahrenheit and it puts out alot of wattage and its also clear as can be. no complaints here. i have heard and had many other systems and it proved itself to me.
put it up against a mtx 81000d and see how it compairs to a real 1500 watt amp.

Why do you say that? Do you mean 150 watts isn’t enough to get a sub moving? Or do you mean low quality or “dirty” amps work better for highs then they do for subs? In any case…distortion of an amp is far less audible in a subwoofer then in highs. So lower quality amps are fine for subs…but I’d stay away from them for any highs.
Both amps are most likelly overrrated. You can get better for the price.
I’d check into JBL amps on www.ikesound.com. What amp all depeneds on what the ohm configuration of your sub(s) are, the subs power handling, your budget, etc.
Good luck!

what i meant was cheap amps will disappoint when you find out theyre overrated and cant push your sub for sh1t. for highs, even a jensen will out-do deck power. im actually using a sony 75x2 to push my orion15 and its plenty loud. albeit shitty, but loud enough…

had a 1200 watt mtx amp it was a “d” and the only thing i liked more about it was the size, my PA is almost 30 in. long. it was a damn good amp it got stolen about two weeks after i got it it moved two jl w6’s pretty good. but i also paid 475 $ for it whereas the PA i got for 150 $ used.
