When ever i use any of the power acceseries my lights dim inside and out. Also when i start my car sometimes it sounds like it isn’t going to start. Does this sound liek the alternater going?

when i bought the car two weeks ago the mechanic said the battery was ok. How can i check myself
first pop open the 2 rectangular caps on top and see how dry the inside is,(more dry it is, worse off u are) next take a power reading device and see what kind of power its putting out.
it could be both the battery and alternator. usually a battery goes bad when the alternator starts going out. alternators dont just go out instantly but rather slowly goes bad until its final moment. so during these random periods when it isnt working properly, it’s not completely charging your battery so you may experience hard starts or the car not starting at all. also a bad alternator will cause poor performance from your accessories since they’re not getting enough voltage/amps (really dim interior/exterior lights, stereo turning off and on, p/w goes down or up really slow, ect…).
one simple thing you can do to isolate if its a battery or alternator is by disconnecting the positive cable from the battery while the engine is running. if the engine starts sputtering or goes dead when the cable is disconnected, then it’s very likely the alternator is going bad. if the engine runs fine, then it’s probably the battery.
