ok finally decided to install my power folding mirrors, i’ve had them sitting in a box for about 4 months or longer.
install was pretty basic, wiring was relatively simple didn’t bother to depin the plugs, but no problems there.
my problem lies in the folding mirror action, one mirror folds great the other one gets about half way then stops and the motor keeps going, you hear a big click as the teeth skip then it starts going again.
in both directions it clicks twice like its getting snagged at two points or teeth are worn on the gear.
anyone have any idea how to take these things apart i took out all the visible screws and still couldn’t figure out how to get the housing off. i know they come apart tho because when i received them there was paper taped over the mirror glass and the tape was on the back side of the mirror. no possible way to tape it like that if it wasn’t disassembled prior to this.
the other issue i’m having is they don’t like to move all the time, i rechecked all of my connections and even played with each one as i went to see if i could find a loose one and it just seems to be intermitent, they fold when they feel like it. i’m sure this is probably more of a component problem, bad relay/switch etc because the mirrors both work when the system decides to work.
just wondering if anyone has some voltage info so i can start testing next time i feel like taking my dash apart lol.
also curious on how to take them apart because the angles are really off, as i just got done reading on another forum about 92-95 eg mirror install since these are for RHD they are set up differently then ours are from the factory and the best way to fix it is to take out the internals and put them into LHD shells. seems like the same should be true for the DA mirrors so i may attempt it if i can get the mirrors apart with out too much damage.
for now they are just like normal mirrors just slightly off on the angles to see behind me one is adjusted as far as it can go and still a bit off to see clearly lol. so much for a nice upgrade
