power steering delete and vss

quick question about the vss and the power steering lines that connect to it, if you a power steering delete then dont those line go away?

if so, what do you do with the 2 spots on the vss that connects those 2 line?

[search] works well with this swap or you can use an EF VSS

Connect/loop the two lines on the VSS together. Tah-da!!

ok. thanks, i didnt think it would be that easy. i thought the power steering fluid needed to go through the vss for something.

your going to have to look for a single cam vss and might have to switch the actual gear to>
here is a pic of my vss on my jdm Y1 lsd tranny…

cool. is there a specific motor i need to get it from or would any single cam work?

and what purpose does the ps fluid have for going through the vss?

The reason our DAs have power steering fluid running through them is because the power steering is only active under a certain speed (8mph if I recall correctly). So when in a parking-lot, power steering is working… but once you get out on the road, the power steering isn’t fully functioning. At least this is my understanding.

You don’t need a JDM/SOHC VSS… the oem DA one will work if you leave some fluid in it and loop the lines together. But the JDM one does look a ton cleaner, and doesn’t require a gear-swap, if indeed the SOHCs do.

oh, ok. ill do that then. thanks a lot…

All you need is a vss off of an EF. You dont need to swap gears and you dont need a JDM vss. Or loop the lines like unified112, which I had debated about doing when I went with a manual rack. I chose not to because I wanted to get ride of all the powersteering stuff and have a cleaner look with the EF vss. I am running a S1 trans w/ an EF vss.
