Power steering --- > no power steering

I know many members here are driving without power steering. I have a few questions… :worry:

Anyone had any problems removing it?
How is it going from PS to no PS?
Anyone have a write up on the power steering removal? (I found one but the threads pictures don’t work and it was dated back to 2004 :squint:)

Thanks in advance G2

The hardest thing about removing the PS system is dealing with the hardlines… if the motor is still installed its a whore. Then deciding how you want to loop/vent the system.

The biggest issue with getting used to it is when driving at parkinglot-speed, it takes some getting used to… otherwise there isn’t a big problem driving without it.

There is a big PS Delete thread, and yes its old… but its full of good info, regardless if the pictures are still up orr not.

thanks homie!

the best way to do it is loop it for the bottom on the rack itself with the same holes and use new clamps, take your time and follow the lines all the way to the bottom and loop away

X2. This is how mine was done. No power steering does take a little bit to get used to but i’ve driven many crx’s thoughout the years.

Teg Tips forum.

There’s a great post on TI forum with a pictured step by step removal and or loop and breathing option.

Don’t loop the lines, that’s the half ass way to do it IMO. Power rack is meant to have fluid flow back and forth through the lines and rack (there is also a power steering fluid cooler in the front bumper). So the fluid is meant to flow and looping them defeats that whole purpose and can lead to issues within the rack, even though I know most people have never had any problems.

Best and less hassle free way to do it is…

-Source an manual EF Si rack and swap it in with new inner and outer tie rods and correct shims to align it.
-Remove everything having to do with power steering. (which also saves you around 25lbs removing everything)
-Done

This way you don’t need to worry about looping them looping them correctly and you can remove all that BS that comes with the power rack. I did lots and lots of research and I was going to loop the lines at first. It’s the whole mentality of “if you going to do it, do it right” and swapping the racks is the best option overall.

Wasn’t suggesting the looping option. Just was letting this person know what the thread was about and all the options they have. This person goes on to doing what was best for him. He also discusses the whole manual rack option in there as well.

the only other legit way would be to take off all the line off the rack and have custom lines made to loop them. I did since it was leaking and got them made for like $80.
