im in the process of disconnecting my power steering on my car and noticed half way through the ordeal that the lines run into the top of my tranny why is this ? and am in going to have to reconnect all the lines and power steering pump and resevoir back up … i have a ys1 tranny in my car … thanks…
You don’t have to worry about that. I do believe that has something to do with the speed sensitive power steering we supposed to have.
i’m interested in taking off my power steering rack…do i have to clamp the hose or can i just disconnect everything? and bleed it etc?
If your not concerned about the weight you can just remove the power steering belt. ![]()
HTH
lol…actually i’m very concerned about the weight- that’s why. i already have the belt off.
I’m in the process of doing this right now as well. I’ve torn everything out already and just have 4 lines coming out of the steering rack valve body. I’m not really sure which ones need capped and which ones need looped.
Can someone please tell me why you would want to remove just the belt and keep the stupid pump thats not even working in the car?
I dont get that.
What is the steering like after to remove the PS, I can only imagine its a drives like $hit. Is this true and worth it?

drives great[a better feel for the car etc]- you notice the difference for the 1st week, then you get use to it.
really the power steering system including the fluid can’t weigh more than 10 - 15lbs total. not much of a weight savings unless you have already done everything else.
yeah-but it “cleans” up the engine bay as well.
