power window conversion

i have a 92 with manual windows

my friend has a 93 with power windows

he for some reason wants manual windows. i obviously dont.
we had the idea of straight up trading doors cus we both have black cars.

how would we go about the wiring?

thx

Please do some research first… This has been beaten to death like a dead horse. There are many good contributions to this discussion archived here.
It isn’t difficult though if you run your own wiring. If you swap wire harnesses as well, you take your life into your own hands as far as I’m concerned.

Thanks.

thanks for not being an asshole about it
ive searched i saw plenty about installing power windows from scratch but not conversion. thanks tho

No problem.

(removal of double post - oops)

No problem. Exactly what did you want to do?? Use the RS harness and add the doors from a GS or similar? The reason I asked you to search is that I left a post on my experiences doing exactly what you are considering. I suggest you get some ribbon wire and then keep the OEM door molex connectors. I cut them maybe 1-2’ down from the door and spliced them to my own ribbon cable. Food for thought… If you use slightly larger AWG wiring, the windows will operate a little more quickly. The opposite is true for undersized gauge wiring (as well is could overheat and cause some problems or worse maybe a fire). I think I used 12 or 14 AWG but I’m not 100% sure. I ran power from a switched source so that nobody can operate the windows when parked (many make this mistake).

Let me see if I can find my post for you…

Hi neex. Have been searching all over g2ic and found your posts about converting to power windows and locks and haven’t found anything straight forward yet. I currently own a gs and just bought an ls. I need to switch out all the power options from the gs to ls and non-power from ls to gs, so pretty much just power windows and power locks. Wiring and splicing isn’t a big deal for me but my gs has been way too molested and i would like to keep the ls as stock as possible. Plug and play is optimal. So my question is can i just pull the wires that run from the blue plugs connecting to both doors out of the main interior harness or do i need the whole harness? Also besides that and the gs doors what else is needed for everything to function properly? I heard something about a window relay and door lock control box. Im assuming i can just pull these from the gs but don’t know know where they are. Am i on the right track?
Whew!!! Sorry if that is overwhelming. I have about a week until i need to finish and sell the gs. Your help would be very much appreciated if it is possible. Thanx
