I have used the helms manual and have performed every test they have. The fuses are good, the motor works, the switches work (thanks Colin), the input wires work.
The next troubleshoot is the regulator, but there is no test, does anyone know if there is something I can try to test out the regulator besides just buying a new one and installing it.
The only other option on the troubleshooting chart is that the blue/black wire is open somewhere.
Just to let everyone know, I do know FOR SURE that the motor works and the switches work. I have been hotwiring it to put it up and down for work. And I did search.
If anyone has any advice let me know. I thank you in advance.
Here is the problem. I hope that more information will allow a better diagnosis.
All this is for the passanger side. My driverside motor is dead. I know thats whats wong with that side.
I have all the power window wires pluged into there respective sockets. I push the switches and nothing works.
I pull out the drivers switch and connect the some of the wires(helm’s switch input test). The passanger motor works.
I also use the helms switch test and the switches come out perfect. I know the contacts are good anyway because Colin fixed them for me. Thank you Colin.
I have checked everything else. All these test and the troubleshooting chart is on pg. 206 in the electrical section.
It says to check the regulator and after that check for an open wire.
The thing I don’t get is why is the window working when I hot wire it, but not when I use the switches. I don’t understand how that would work.
i am not sure about this, but what i have been told is that the passenger window is the last in the circuit. and if your motor on the driverside is out, perhaps the circuit has been severed. THat might be the reason it only works when hotwired. Also the reason why the passenger side window has always been slow.
I have been wondering about that. I will have to check that out.
I actually think I might be able to figure it out by looking at the troubleshooting guide in helms again. I have been focusing on when the pass. window won’t work because I already knew why the drivers motor wasn’t working.
Well, I figured out that the drivers side motor has nothing to do with the circuit to the pass. motor. I put in a new driver motor and got everything hooked up. The drivers window does work now, but the pass. still will not work with the switch.
I am going to go into town today and get a regulator at Auto Adventure. Hopefullly that will fix it.
Also, my guides were dry so I pulled them out to grease them. Well now my allignment is kinda messed up. I don’t know I hate this crap.
So if anyone has any input on any of this stuff let me know I am getting pissed with all the crap that is wrong with my windows.
