primer steps

well my car’s like 3 different colors so im going to rattle can it. i need to know what steps i should. (i.e. sand with 100 grit, sand with… you get the point) i wanna wetsand it after im done so its smooth and not rough. thanx

i think the best bet is to use a fairly low grit to scuff up your painting surface I.E. 80grit-200grit… primer it using whatever color primer, then use filler primer if you have any light scratches of if you’ve used bondo… the filler primer will actually fill in the scratches… after all of that is taken care of do your first coat… make sure you spray it on evenly… after the first coat is dry begin to wetsand using 1000 grit wet-or-dry sandpaper… the more coats you do, increase the grit sandpaper… dont wetsand your final coat… good luck bro

thanx but that applies to just primer? because its going primer black for a couple weeks. and i dont want a rough finish like primer gives. so can i just wetsand the primer with 1000 and call it good for now?

no one?

leave it the way it is primer.don’t sand it until you’re ready to get fresh paint.once you starts sandin,it gonna start collecting dust/debris.

theres ways around it. fix your location.
