I was having bouncy idle issues so I decide to clean my IACV. Took everything off no problem. Cleaned out the IACV with carb cleaner and let it sit for a while. Dumped out the cleaner, cleaned it off with a rag (bent the screen in). Waited about 20-30 mins and bolted it back on. Reconnected the battery, started the car and the idle was really low. Gave it a little bit of gas and the car shut off. Started it back up and it ran good for a little bit and then the idle went into a type of “limp mode” reving up and down continuously. I gave it some more gas and it staled out. Waited about 10 mins. and restarted. Idle was fine. Gave it gas and the idle went to almost zero, barely staying on. Should I just wait a while and start it back up because possibly the carb clean was still inside the IACV? (didnt wait long enough for the cleaner to dry) Any ideas would be helpful.
Started it up again and it idles at 500-600RPM. When I rev it, the car shuts off. A little progress, so I will let the car sit for a while and go from there.
you sure the o ring was ok? if it’s hardened, it may be causing a vacuum leak
and dumb question, but you’re sure you plugged the connector back in, right?
The O-ring is new and I did plug the IACV back in.
oh. ok. cuz the symptom, it idling at 5-600rpm and stalling on throttle is indicative of the iacv being unplugged. was why i had to ask.
try disconnecting it and see what happens. if there is no change, maybe it’s faulty

I have had several IACVs that were faulty, you can also try swapping in a known working one temporarily to see if it alleviates the issue.
I drove it around yesterday and no issues. I guess you need to make sure the carb cleaner is completely dry. I didnt think it would make a difference.
