Problem with oil gauge

So I installed an aftermarket oil pressure gauge a few months ago and its been working fine until couple days ago. When I turn the ignition on it automatically comes on when the motor isn’t running and its not supposed to come on until the motor is on, or when the oil pump is pumping. It doesnt even read the oil pressure like it should, the needle just stays in one end. Any help is much appreciated.

could be a bad gauge or sending unit is it a mechanical or electric gauge

If your sending unit is attached to the engine(t-block, fittings, etc.) then it probably vibrated the sending unit apart.

Its an electrical gauge. What exactly do you mean when you say the sending unit might have been shaken off?

Try and unplug the harness from the back of the guage and then plug it back in. i have that problem with my autometer oil presure guage sometimes

i mean the mechanicals inside the unit itself have been vibrated apart.
Thus if the sending unit itself is vibrated to garbage then it wont register anything (or possibly register funky, like 100psi @ idle).
after all summitracing.com has listed the Sending Unit sold as a maintence part.
thats why most people mount them remotely like on the firewall.
