Problem with Tranny

First of all, I’ve tried searching but couldn’t find a similar problem to mine.

Anyway, here’s the problem. When sitting at idle and my foot off the clutch, I hear this grinding and rattling noise coming from the tranny just between the battery and the motor. However, when I press the clutch, this noise goes away. I just had the clutch replaced about 2 months ago, and I brought it back in for the shop to check it out under warranty. However, they said that it wasn’t the clutch. I didn’t believe them, I had them replace the clutch and pilot bearing again… this time i stayed and watch them do it. However, the problem is still there?

Anyone have any ideas?

sounds like output shaft bearing, if its not the throw out bearing.

any idea on how much to repair?

They should have replaced the throw out bearing when they replaced the clutch. If not and it is that the tranny has to come out again, and it goes where the clutch goes.

If output shaft bearing, then not only does the tranny have to come out but also need to be taken apart.

not sure what the cost would be call the tranny guy and ask him

trannie noize

I have the same EXACT thing. My mechanic suggested too that the throw out is bad, but worse case scenario is the main trans bearings. Said if I wanted it done right, might as well either rebuild or swap while I’m at it, wouldn’t cost too much more. sad part. 12-14hun…uggggg!
