problems with no spark and check engine light

i am having a problem with my car when the check engine light stays on i have no spark and the car will just crank over but no start. i tried to jump the wire to check the codes in the ecu its a 93 gs but it does not do anything for some reason the one thing i have noticed is i took the main fuel relay and can hit is and the check engine light will flicker but stay on. i tried another one and the same thing i cant figure it out does anyone know whats going to and how to fix.
thanks

have u try resetting the ecu or even checking the codes on the ecu behind the carpet?

yes i have well i cant check the codes behind the carpet its obd1 but i did try to jump the two wire pin to get it to show codes and nothing the light just stays on i just dont know whats going on with this thing. some times i will just turn the key and it will work light comes on then goes off and car starts then it does this were you turn the key the light just stays on and no spark i just wish i could figure out whats going on i would like to drive it rather then my 4x4 as a daily driver.

bump

did you know for sure the other mfr is good? it could be yours its on its way out.

Yo

Check your distributor :werd:

coil

but my question is why cant i get the ecu to read codes? i dont think its a coil or anthing like that i think it might be my mfr. because when i hit it pretty hard the check engine light will go off for a split sec and then comes back on so im going to try that first but any other help would be great
thanks for the help so far

u prolly are jumping it wrong. try using a better wire or paper clip or whatever. u might have put it in the wrong connector/hole thingy. u gotta eliminate possibilities first when diagnosing. ur mfr could be bad like u think or u could have a bad coil. or both can be messed up. i’m in the same boat and know that both have been giving me issues, so i got a used (working) distributor from gilcotr and still have the issue, but at least my car runs now cuz the coil was so cracked that it wouldn’t give me spark when it got warm. i know the only thing left is the mfr. but been a pain in the ass to get it from the local shops as of late, cuz they don’t have it in stock or they misplace it.

double check the location of where ur jumping to check the codes, then also replace ur mfr… whether its bad or not, cuz u know it’s gonna go sooner or later anyways. then if u still have issues, change ur coil. still have issues after that… then maybe ur fuel pump

if you can’t get the ECU to read codes when you jump it, try again with better wire, and you still can’t get a code, theres a chance its shot- i couldn’t get codes off mine when it died

ok so i figured out why it was doing some of the things it was for some reason there was a bad fuse i fixed that and that got my check engine light to go off and for there to be spark but still no fuel. so i looked at the mfr and i have power to but im not getting anything out to the yellow and blk wire that runs to the fuel pump i jumped it and it started right up i could hear the pump kick on and all is good. so i grabbed another mfr i had laying around and still no power to the yellow and blk wire. could it just be another bad mfr. i hope so. i was so mad that i have just let my car sit in my garage for like the past 4 months because of this and today i figured i would try to get it running. so i hope its just a bad mfr what do you guys think.
thanks

So now no fuel but what codes if any?

yeah it lets me read codes but it is not throwing anything. so i tested the power in to the mfr and i have power to key on 12v with key off and 12v when key is cranked. but im not getting anything coming out of the yellow/blk wire which runs to the fuel pump so i jumped it with a wire from key on power to the yellow/blk wire and fuel pump kicks on and it works fine so i would say its gotta be the mfr what do you think

See if a buddy of yours with the same car can swap out that part so you can see if its really that.I think that the 92-95 civic ones are the same, but not 100% sure.
