Project Short Shift

 db2!

The problem with your test is the application of force. You have absolutely no leverage, which is what you shifter will be experiencing and why most know it will break. You have 30 pounds of dead weight which your shifter will never experience. Great test, if only it applied to your application.

Well said, and LMFAO at the pics of the hose tire.

it broke as soon as i installed it. it was a waste of time, my bad. i thought it would work. you guyrs were right, i was wrong. i’m not giving up though. attempt number 2 is in the works. i broke it all apart and put a metal rod through the center and took the big piece off the bottom. its still gonna be alittle bit longer on the bottom then stock so it will shorten the throw…slightly. but now its 2 joints insted of 3 and i think the metal rod will help. it broke above the ball so the bottom isnt the problem, its the top. but with the metal rod going through it and a full tube of jb weld on it, i hope that works. if not i’ll come up with something else. im so pissed off at it i’ll try 100 different ways till i get it to work…why? cause i want to thats why.

or just buy one…

Just pay a shop 10/20 bucks to weld it for you bro.
It is a good idea to make your own but you should just do it the right way instead of having to do it 100 times tell you learn how to do it right.
I rather pay the 10/20 bucks for a strong weld then to be driving one day and having it snap again on the freeway or something.

if it doesnt work this tme then i’ll take the one i havent cut yet and get it cut and welded at a shop. the whole point of this is to not pay $100+ for one. I like my skunk2 one in my da but $115 just for a name, i’m not falling for that again.

But its only 10 bucks to get it welded, not $100+ I rather pay the small cost to do it right then to pay 2k+ on a new transmission or car if you end up crashing.
I can see if its something that don’t have anything to do with the safety and operation of the car,but this is,do it right man and call it a day.
Doing it over and over and over again is going to cost you the same amount if you think about it,the JB weld is like 5 bucks.

it hasnt cost me a dime yet. I have all the stuff sitting at my house, ive got like 20 tubes of jb weld in my garage soo yea. 2k for a trans??? you do know this is a 91 integra im talking about right? $300 for a tranny, tops. And how would i wreck? worse thing that would happen is i’d be stuck in whatever gear it broke in. I’ll take the one i havent cut to a shop if this one doesnt work

It’s cool to fab up your own stuff, but this is hard to watch. So, to help here’s a link.

Or you guys can just let him do what ever he wants and face what ever consequences come with it.

I vote for this option,OP<good luck and hope it works out. PEACE:salute:

Seriously STOP quoting me. You are posting right after me. :ban:

But its fun:giggle:lol
Fixed.

I’m not laughing. And it is not fun.

You are such a poor sport, sorry.

Thank you spikeymike. Thats exactly my point. I’m gonna do it however I wish and if things fail and I fall on my face, then thats ok with me because i’ve already excepted the fact that things might fail. If I’m preparred for the worst then when and if it comes i’ll be ready for it. I appreciate the input from all of you guys, and thanks for taking an intrest in helping a fellow g2 member out. I’m already looking for someone to cut and weld my other shifter, so if mine doesn’t work i’ll have one done right that will. I would still like to try it my way just as an experimeant. As for the teg tip, I think it needs to be changed to say " cut a 2 in piece out but only add an inch to theh bottom half". I dbout too many people will do this but for the ones that do, its better to have the right information before hand

You don’t pay for the name with something like this- you pay for the research and development that went into making the product work flawlessly!

IMO- I’d buy a name brand one.

All this work and you could have the BEST COMBO for shifting for cheap and ever lasting comfort with best fit. DC Type R Shifter combined with a DC Linkage and new bushings. I’ve felt a lot of short shifter setups in the DA and nothing compares. The best, PERIOD.

I know this is a DIY type thing for you, but I would really recommend the setup over ANYTHING.

thank god it broke, i would’ve felt bad for your transmission!

hey matty what is the difference between the ITR linkage and other integra linkages besides the color? i didn’t like the positioning of the DC2 dual bend short shifters, i had to go back to DA single bend.

Nothing is different between Type R and non Type-R linkages. You didn’t like the Type-R shifter with the linkage? That’s interesting, it sits perfect for me and feels right.
