I’ve got myself a B18C in my G2. My problem is the Power steering pump doesnt line up with the crank pulley. It’s offset by 1/2 inch or so. So I can’t put the belt in place, it just shreds. Here’s the deal though, I’ve tried both the original PS pump and a PS pump off a 95 GSR(had to run the line all the way down next to the oil pan). Does this make sense? I’m thinkin’ I’m using the wrong crank pulley. Has anyone come across this problem?

Which upper bracket are you using? I have the B16A on my B18C1 right now but I can’t find a belt to fit. I’m gonna try a P72 upper bracket tomorrow and see what that does. If it’s no good I’m just gonna re-use my LS upper and use 1 bolt to hold it, G2Guru confirmed that the LS works.
I beleive I’m using the GSR(P72) bracket. I checked out another guys 95GSR and the pump and bracket look to be the same. Do me a favor, if you figure out your power steering belt and such, please let me know your configuration.
I’m building a b18c and haven’t got far enough to worry about this yet. Anyway I helped a buddy of mine with his, he had the same offset problem laopadak was mentioning, and we went to home depot and get some washers and put them in there to make the belt line up right. Not the most sophisticated solution, but it worked. If you figure out the right bracket/belt combo please post it up. You’ll save me some time.
The problem I’m having is that the PS pump pulley is further right than the crank pulley. So If what you’re saying works, wouldn’t that make my alternator and timing belt to be offset as well. Cause you’re saying to use washers, if I use washers then it would move the entire pulley to the right. Right? Don’t get me wrong, I want it to work but it doesn’t sound like it will.
On a separate note. Does anyone know if the crank pulley off a B18B or B16A is wider(bigger in diam and width) than the B18C crank pulley?
yeah i don’t think you understand what i’m saying, and I’m not sure what your saying either with the right left thing. What I was trying to say is, his power stearing pump did not line up correctly with the crank pully decause when you tightened the powersteering pump up against the bracket (to tighten the belt), the power steering pump would be in towards the exhaust manifold more than it should be. In order to fix it, we put enough washers in between the bracket and the power stearing pump (the bolt went through the pump housing, some washers and then into the bracket)so when you tightened the power stearing pump down to keep the belt in place it was moved more away from the exhaust manifold such that is correctly matched up with the crank pully.
Looking over your last post it seems that your trying to say your power stearing pump is already farther away from the exhaust manifold than it should be? I’m not sure if he was using the p72 or the pr4 bracket but maybe if you switch yours out it will make it so that your power stearing pump is to far towards the exhaust manifold and this solution will work?
One more thing, I didn’t mean for you to put washers in between the crank pully and the crank. You are correct in that it would push the entire pully out and your alternator would not line up nor would your ac, but that would not affect the timing belt since it’s on the inside of the pully unless you put the washers on the inside of both the “timing belt sprocket” and the pully.
Understood. It wouldn’t fix my problem though because the PS pump is further away from the exhaust manifold than the crank pulley so the only way it would work is if I did move my crank pulley further out.
I haven’t been keeping up with this thread, but I figured mine out last week. I’m still using the B18A crank pulley and PS pump/pulley. The P72 bracket was a waste of time, it didn’t even come close to bolting to the B18A PS pump. So I stuck with the LS lower bracket and the B16A upper bracket. I just shaved the lower part of the slot (in the B16A bracket) so the pump could slide down a little more. Once I did that I put the lower bolt in and put the belt on and then put the upper bolt in place, set the tension and tightened everything down. It’s been good for about 250 miles now.
i use a b17a upper bracket together with my ls lower (looked the same as my b16 lower) to mount the power steering pump on my ls-vtec setup. if you do this, you won’t need any washers or bracket modding to get power steering to work. oh and use a ls power steering belt.
b18c upper & lower brackets (94+ integras) won’t work because they have different ps pumps which push the pump out a little further.
