so, i live in federal way, and there is this rouge cop that just pisses me off. he pulls me over all the time! he gave me a ticket for illegaly modified headlights, hes pulled me over all the time to tell me my car is too low and now just today he gave me a ticket for it. the ticket says that my headlights are lower then 24 inches off the ground ):< im piiiissssed! that means i have to raise my car like 3 inches!! hella monster truck status, i have skunk 2 lowering springs on the back and coilovers on the front so i can adjust ride height on the front. but like… im not going to raise it that much, just like a half inch just to get them off my ass. but. would my car still be cool?? i swear raising my car is like cutting off a dogs balls! heres a pic of my car before i was pulled over
That sucks man. Id say raise it up alittle. It will still look good. Just try and stay on the downlow so cops dont mess with you. Let all the stupid ricey civics be the attention whores for cops.

i can easily win this ticket becaus the rcw states that the passengers and driver have to be out of the vehicle when the cop measures how far up the headlights are from the ground and also the car has to be on a level surface. the cop didnt do any of that so i got it made, i just dont want this happening again. i know where this guy hangs out all the time. i just have to avoid that area. it sucks because my parents are pissed and want me to raise it. basically to stock height! im like HELL TO THE NO!! thats like cutting off my balls. especially since i got this honda tech meet im going to saturday so ill slamm my car back down when i go to that.
The stock height is just about the legal limit… Either way, If you fight the ticket I don’t think you’ll win. They may just have the car measured “properly” if anything.
man nick i used to get hated on all the time in lakewood in my DA lol pierce and king county cops are stickin tuners hard all the time id fight it, ive fought alot of my tickets for my exhaust being defective and car to low and all that other BS you will when most of the time the cops are to busy to even show up at court. your cars lookin really fresh man cant wait to finally see it when i come home!!!
I had this same problem last summer. Here is what the outcome was
Whe the cop measured my headlights to the ground, he got a measurement of 20" from the ground. At the time I was on Skunk2 Springs (like you) on Tokico HP shocks, which as we both know is no where near 4"
I did some reasearch and according to state law (Florida), the height requirement goes by weight. A stock DA, from the dealer with stock 14" wheels and stock tire size STILL does not meet the state law, (just under 23 3/4") so therefore doesn’t apply to the Integra.
This is a tough ticket to fight as there is no documention (that I coud find) the stated what stock headlight height is. When I called the clerk, she says if there is any way to show what the height for a stock Integra is then the ticket would be dropped because they cannot enforce the ticket if the car doesnt meet the height requirements from the factory. Now if the car was under 2499lbs then the requirement would be 22" and therefore the ticket would apply.
Unfortunately I waited a bit too long and was unable to find such documentation, so I asked for an extension and made them wait 4 mos for thier money! Since I asked for the extension, I automatically plead guilty and the ticket was processed as a moving violation and even raised my insurance!
You just got your ticket so you have time to gather whatever information you can to fight it. Your local Clerk of the Court should be able to tell you what documents would be accepted. ie: Photographs of your car next to a stock DA would have been acceptable here, but I couldnt find anyone I know with a stock DA.
Also…my Sheriff’s office stated that even tho it is a law, only “Harrassing ASSHOLE cops or rookles who take thier job too seriously actually give those tickets” (quoted).
I would fight the ticket and when it gets dropped, and he pulls u over again for not rasing your car…show him the court papers and tell him to fuck off!
thanks steve. i put the stock lip on. looks higher up so that works. thanks for the info though, i just hope when i get out of this ticket he doesnt pull me over for the same thing again. the cop told me “if you keep it up, ill write you a ticket for your exhaust. its too loud, i could hear it from a 100 ft away” he actually said that. my exhuast isnt even that loud, legal limit is 92 decibals and thats hella loud and even though my exhaust is aftermarket. its not even loud at all so im going to get mine checked.

Ask anyone whos lost their balls to cancer or an industrial accident and I assure you that they’ll tell you driving around in a stock height honda is far less traumatic (after they’re done kicking the shit out of you. After getting pulled out of my car at gunpoint by a cop, and having him threaten my life, (i’m middle class and white and have never been in trouble ever) I took stock of what was important to me. Living to see another day or JDM headlights? Hard choice. The ability to breathe without the help of a machine or “slammin my shit to the asphalt yo!!!” ? Tough decision.
Modifying a car can be alot of fun don’t get me wrong. Its far easier to not have to go to court weekly and spend $1000s of your hard earned dollars on fines and court costs.

(3) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the engine of such vehicle above that emitted by the muffler originally installed on the vehicle, and it shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle not equipped as required by this subsection, or which has been amplified as prohibited by this subsection. A court may dismiss an infraction notice for a violation of this subsection if there is reasonable grounds to believe that the vehicle was not operated in violation of this subsection.

yea i live by the aqautic center too, its just the one cop that hates on everyone. ive sat there and watched him on his fishing expeditions. i know where and when he hangs out and stuff so i have to avoid that area. which sucks because i live right there lol. i hate feeling like we live in a police state. all this guy does is write shitty tickets. i feel sorry for the judges at the court house that have to deal with all of it. my dads super pissed about the whole thing and hes trying to look into seeing what the cops deal is.
