on my car, the belt that is on the outside, which I think powers the oil pump and some other stuff (i think power steering too) is gone.
I turned into my street, and the steering was really stiff.
I thought maybe it was a flat tire, but with the pop of the hood, the belt was gone!
I can’t find the helms manual anywhere, so if anyone can tell me the steps to replace the belt, it would be really helpful, THANKS!!!
ok, you need to clarify what you said, because i’m confused as to what exacly broke:
-did just your power steering BELT break?
-did your power steering pulley and belt break?
-did your crank pulley break (the pulley down below)
at first because of your title and your first sentance it makes it seem like there is something wrong with the crank pulley. But by the end of what you’re saying it sounds more like just the power steering pulley is broken.
did you search for where to download the helms? well, try again. go to the search function, search for “download helms manual” only 21 topics will come up, skim over them and you’ll easily find where to download it.
and it its only your power steering belt that snapped, which I think it is, it’z no big deal…you just have no power steering. (me and 91integGS both don’t have power steering, as well as many others here; we yank our belts off or even the whole system.)
but yes, please do a search.
yea pretty sure it is just your power steering belt…you don’t have anything to worry about…you can replace or just have no power steering…you might get a little bit of a power gain from it acutally…and its easyer to handle at high speeds…i pulled my belt a few months ago and i just took the whole power steering motor out yesturday…i like the way it feels a lot better…good luck
