so i got an alignment recently along with new tires. does anyone have any explanation as to why my car keeps pulling left? it pulls kind of hard too. if i let go of the steering wheel, it immediately starts to veer.
Did they give you the specs of your alignment? …those grease monkey aren’t exactly known for their attention to detail. Also, was it pulling to the left prior to the alignment?
Flip the front tires sides (if they aren’t directional). Might be a bad tire. If it pulls to the right after you switch, it’s the tire. If it’s still pulling to the left, the alignment wasn’t done correctly or you have a bent component. Does it pull left all the time? Or only some roads? I’ve found some customers have certian roads on their commutes that the road crown is severe and pulls them pretty hard, whereas other roads are graded nicely and won’t pull. A good shop/technician will compensate for the average road crown.
Edit: Most (hence, not all) roads should (again, no definitives) grade to the right side, towards the ditches. At least up here in Canerdahh.
the alignment was done correctly, the wheels and tires are fine and none of my arms are bent. yes i have the specs and the only thing different is the camber. one side is 2.8 and the other is 3.0. pretty sure thats not enough of difference to cause this. i will have to look at the sheet to see which side is which. it did pull left before the alignment but i was able to let go of the wheel and have the car go straight for a while before it started to pull. its kind of something its always done but now its kind of bad.
I would take it back and let them know it still pulls. They should have corrected any pull if everything suspension/tire-wise was ok. Was that positive camber??
negative camber. idk it thats a lot for the fronts but visually, the wheels are pretty much straight up and down with a slight tilt.
Hmm, I believe the spec is -0.5 to -1.5. So -3 is a little more, but the spread between them isn’t enough (shouldn’t be, anyway) to make a pull. What is caster spec?
As mentioned above, make sue you test on different roads. Driving on the right side of our highway in Idaho my car pulls hard right when you let off the wheel, however when you jump to the left lane, it pulls left.
Its not easy to nail down a problem, or if there is a problem in cases like this. If nothing is visually wrong and the alignment was done correctly I’m betting roads.
