Putting a switch on rear liscence plate light?

Anyone ever done this before?
I want to be able to turn it on and off from the drivers seat, just in case i get a little too crazy at night…
My question is… will i have to run wires from the back of the car all the way to the front to hook up a switch, or is there a wire that is easily accessable from the engine bay/under dash that i can use instead?

it most likely connects to the tail light harness, as it is supposed to be on whenever the parking lights are on. So you would likely have to run a wire the whole way.

damn
oh well i guess ill just do that lol.

thanks for the reply and not lecturing me about why i shouldnt do that or how i shouldnt drive the way i do.

don’t do that, you shouldn’t drive the way you do

if youre going to put a switch on the lic plate light for those :hairy" nights, might as well do it on the whole taillight harness… i mean if the reason why you want to cut the lic plate light is to get away then might as well do it to your tails so they dont see you.

but im just sayin…

In that case, might as well wire the fogs to be able to switch on any time the ignition is on, then you could just use the normal switch to keep all lights off except the fogs.

you mean fogs and headlights right? driving in the dark with only the fogs can get nasty. LOL.

Obviously safety isn’t exactly a priority if the OP is considering this stuff

well what i was originally thinking is just the lic. plate lights so people cant call my plates in or anything when im weaving in and out of traffic and being a douche and all lol.

not actually running from the cops.
unless there was a neighborhood with a lot of turns and stuff, i would never attemp to outrun a cop lol

What happens when the other driver’s headlights illuminate your plate? They are reflective you know…

yeah i know lol.
but its not like they will have the most time to get them down if i am speeding past them…

This would be the way to go.

how would i be able to do it?

Even if your plate lights are off other people have these things called headlights, and plates are reflective. Also if you get caught with your shit rigged like that get ready for some big time fines. Like, twice what you spent on your teg and all your mods

This might be more feasible

Or I was trying to find one that I saw in a James Bond movie…can’t remember which, but when it flipped, another plate was visible. he had something like 3 different plates he could choose from

OR you could just drive sensibly

what are you a bootlegger trying to run from the cops?
cause that’s what they use to do and disconnect the brake lights so those in “pursuit” would not know when they break for a turn.

haha not quite.
im just saying… if i wanted to undo the licence plate lights, how would i do it. but i decided im not going to.
its kinda a waste of time, i just wanted to know how i would do it just in case i wanted to.

Are you planning to do something illegal? If so, Imma tell your mom!

That is a good option, but on cars as low as ours I would recommend that it flip toward the ground. Otherwise the cameras might still get a pic. The other one that turns white would require “smart glass”. Google might help you find some companies that sell it, but I have no idea what that stuff would go for.
