Q about installing pistons

i saw a website awhile ago that had some visual instructions on installing pistons, and i can’t think i where i saw it now…

so my question is, does anyone know of any good tutorials or can tell me what all is involved in installing pistons into your block

is this what you’re looking for? http://tech.hybridgarage.com/tech/headswap/index.html

i actually found the article on c-speedracing, but i’m wondering if anyone can give me any info that the weekend mechanic could use in addition

thanks for the site tho

the phrase “carefully tap” the pistons in.

means dont not hit them in with an oversized steel hammer from home depot… =) .

OUCH! :argh:

Use the wood or rubber handle of a hammer to drive them in. Make sure you have the piston and rings in the right orientation as well as having the rings FULLY compressed. Be sure to lubricate the cylinder with a liberal amount of oil as well as the piston skirts and rings before you put them in the ring compressor. It’s pretty easy stuff really.

all right, thanks guys…

i plan on doing all this stuff in my garage, so would it be possible/easy for me to blueprint my block? and if i don’t, will my block suffer greatly?
