Question about b20 swap

Hey guys, I have read on some of the posts where people are swapping their b18 for the b20, but no details. I have a few (probably stupid) questions. Will the b20 bolt to my auto tranny? Which ECU do I have to use? Will the motor mounts work? I have a 92 ls with 259000 miles on it, and it is time to do something. Also, any advice on which is the best “bang for your buck” on motor swaps. Thanks…Any help would be appreciated!

It will drop right in no problem. Normally I’d say you can use your ECU but I’m not sure if the ECU on an auto tranny teg is different and I don’t know about the auto tranny working with the b20 block. If you save up a little longer, I’m sure you can get a manual tranny and swap it in for around 5 or 600 dollars roughly.

Hey man no problem, sometimes if you kick the dead hose enough it will wake up.

Does anyone know anything about the auto tranny and ECU working with a B20? I’m sure the ECU would work if you chipped it but you might be able to use it without a chip.

unless you want to keep the auto tranny I would save up and do a 5 speed conversion. Then you could just use the ecu out of the 5 speed for the b20. as for the auto ecu working with the b20 i dont see why it wouldnt work but that is just a guess… anyone?

Yeah, I am thinking about that. Does anyone know if swapping to the b20 worth it, or is it better to build up the b18a? As for that is it better to swap for the b16a? I am confused, which is the best thing to do? I want speed, but it is also my daily driver. I will have to have a spare engine, and have it ready to go in on my days off work.

for someone that just wants a little more power and wants something that you don’t have to re-build and all i would say that b20 is perfect…You will get alot of torque and more HP but still remain daily driver status…You can use the same ECU and it will bolt up very easy…I would however suggest getting a b16a tranny and doing the 5spd swap…You will thank yourself in the long run…

Those were my exact reasons for getting a b20.
