If I were to order standard size valves for an ls head like Brian crowers would I need to get the valve ports remilled or can I just throw them in?? Just curious
I would do the 3 angle valve job, it will cut the seats for good seal for the valves. If you look at them now you will see they probably have pitting, that’s kinda hard to get rid of from just lapping.
You really need to get a 3 Angle Valve job to do it right.
Thanks for the input guys I appreciate it I’ll try to post up some pics of my ls build. Already got the 3 angle valve job BC titanium springs and retainers BC .5 oversize valves and as for the block I got pr3 b16 pistons on ls rods, ARP head studs, and ACL .001 tolerance race bearings
Yeah I figured that would need to happen thanks for ur input my Massachusetts brother lol
You do realize that a 3 angle cut is basically stock. If you did a 5 cut then your in business.
Hmmm I never knew that?? Thanks for letting me kno bro
Having a “stock” 3-angle valve job isn’t a problem or downside, really… The point is to make the port perfectly circular and even, with fresh mating surfaces.
If you’re going full-blown track car, then a 5-angle would yield measurable results. Otherwise you won’t notice much of a gain at all.
True, a 5 angle cut would do really well in a big cam eg: sk2 pro 1/2 and a 13+ comp. All motor.
Idk for mine I just got my b16 head built lol similar to yours three angle valve job, resurface, hot tank, media blasted and I have sk 2 stage 2 tuner series so if I ran pro maybe 5 angle but true the machine mine got done in as the 3 angle Vance job was very state if the art lol
5 angle valve cuts have issues with flow. if anything throw some lapping compound(oil based) and get to work, if you make a nice even contact path along the valve seat and valve you should be fine
