Ok so I just tried to install my PWJDM three point strut tower bar and I ran into a problem…
There is some sensor mechanism that it rests right on top of. This sensor thing connects to the throttle body and has a little arm that connects to the throttle cable. When the throttle is pressed the little arm moves upwards slightly into the round shaped thing that makes the top of this unknown sensor. The round part on the top is a bit bigger than a quarter. So my question is what is this thing and can I take it off? The motor is a b16 obd1
I answered in your other post, but here it is again… it’s definitely your dashpot valve. Quoted from my post in the other thread:
Since our cars don’t have the TB mounted MAP sensors I’m assuming you’re talking about the Dashpot Valve - it is not a sensor. It’s purpose is to slow the speed at which the throttle plate closes. I am not sure of it’s purpose, but my guess is that it has to do with prehistoric engine management needing a physical component to help the car from stalling or having too fast of a drop in rpm which the ecu can not compensate for. None of the newer B series motors had that dashpot - I’m assuming because the electronics are much improved or they found another solution to whatever problem they were solving. You can definitely try taking it off, it may or may not pose an issue for you. I’ve seen people run w/o it and I have as well w/o any problems.
dashpot…
pictures help people help you more than a bunch of words do. post a picture when you need help with something. instead of taking an entire paragraph to try and explain what something is and where it is, you can post a picture and people will be more likely to help you rather than trying to decipher what it is youre trying to tell them.
Yeah i am quite aware of that …
My camera was recently stolen hence the description rather than a pic.
Thanks for the tip though!
Be more resourceful. I’ll bet anything there are plenty of pictures that can be found with a simple google search of what you are having issues with. Also, what kind of cell phone do you have.
Theres more than one way to do something…

How am I supposed to Google search something that I don’t know the name of?
Either way the question has been answered already so idk why you keep posting. Haha
