Just wanted to know if 17" wheels fit good on our tegs.
(without any mods to the suspension). They don’t touch the wheel welds do they? shouldn’t …
I know I ask a lot of questions but… here goes… I searched for this one and didn’t really find what I was looking for…
“IF” I wanted to lower my teg, how would I proceed? Different coil springs? I don’t really know… Do they sell lowering kits for our cars? And another one: how low would you guys go without worrying about the rims? (17"). I mean I live where we have a lot of bumpy roads, and I would like to get lips and side skirts… but if I do, will I still be able to lower my teg? Just a few of my worries that needed to be asnswered before I started making modifications to my teg. Thanks, oh and any input is good input. Anything you think, put it here!
i live in ok it has pretty bad roads here i got springs and 17 inch rims if you lower it invest in a chamber kit cause you will regret not geting 1 if so yeah you can still fit a kit on with it being lowered . i have front and rear kit yeah they make spring and coil over 4 are tegs hope i could be of some help got anymore ? just ask ill try to help the best i can .
Alright, it is a Camber kit, not chamber… and yes you do want one if you are lowering your car enough to make it look good with 17’s. You will have to lower it at LEAST 2 inches IMO to make the car look correctly with 17’s.
If you just get springs, you eventually will screw up your stock shocks and the ride won’t be too nice. If you are gonna take everything apart, get shocks and springs and the camber kit all at the same time. It will save you a lot of time and money in the long run… seriously!
Me, I got Koni Yellow adjustable shocks (550), Eibach Sportline springs (110 used) and an Ingalls camber kit (100) for the front. Look under ‘teg tips’ for correcting the rear camber. I can’t find anything I don’t like about my set-up, it’s great. HTH

When you lower your car, you alter the geometry of the suspension. Alot of cars out there w/o camber kits you’ll notice have their wheels all tilted into the fenders - you’ll destroy your tires a lot sooner like this. Camber kits are pieces that fit into your suspension that correct the tilting wheels. Also, after you lower your car, you have to go and get an alignment.
ps - getting 17’s is like opening a can of worms, and you should be prepared. I dropped 1 grand on my wheels and tires, THEN realized that it looked really bad not lowered, so I had to spend another 1 grand to lower it… after the dust settled, 2 grand to make it look cool, it was worth it, AND i made sure to do it right the first time which costs more $$. Just know what your getting into, and you’ll have to drive around the city like your on tiptoes, not wanting to cut a turn close and curb a wheel and also dodging all the big potholes.
Just know what your gettin into… i have no regrets…
I’ll be going to bed smarter tonight…
I didn’t know that.
I have to admit, it’s pretty ugly without the lowering kit. LOL…
hmmm… so, 1G$ for the rims and tires (maybe more…) and about 1G$ for the coil springs, shocks and camber kit?
Follow these guys suggestions and you wont go wrong. Definitely take no shortcuts. Im in TO and I know what happens after those snowploughs scrape the road in winter. Buy your rims, lower your car with springs (Eibach sportlines allow you to use stock shox 1.8"drop) and get a proper alignment.
I had 17" rims on my car with the Eibach Sportlines (1.8" drop) and it looks swell. Please take a look at my profile under Members for Ontario. Its the first one with a photograph under Ontario.
Originally posted by martyP Hey, is it true that you loose alot of take-off power when you put 17" ?
initially I noticed that acceleration felt just a little “different” as well as cruising on the highway, I had to put a little more into the gas (SLIGHLTY)… just felt a little different. Nothing extreme, but enough to notice a difference. If you are going for performance… 17’s are not optimal for acceleration.
