Whats up Guys,
I want to put an oil pressure and water temp gauge in my car and need to know where to mount them. I want to try and stay away from the a-pillar gauge pods. Has anyone mounted them anywhere else? If you have, can you post pictures?
Also, do all the Automeer gauges, like the Pro-comp / sport comp, liquid-filled, etc. light up?
And what do you guys prefer when it comes to the oil pressure gauge, mechanical or electrical?
i think cause it’s played out… or he wants to be different…
you can always have them in the corners of your dash bezel, or on your steering column cover, or in the center console… just be creative and dont let the fact that it hasnt been done hold you back from starting something new…
yeah, Tegboi said it exactly. To me, the a-pillar thing played out and i wanted to find a better location for the gauges. The steering column cover sounds like a great idea. Thanks a lot for the ideas man!
Also, i heard of some problems with vibrations and the sender unit for the electric oil pressure gauge. Anybody have a problem with this?
yeah, you could only fit 1 gauge on the steering colum cover and still have it look nice though. Or you could put them below the stereo and that slot our cars have, 2 gauges could fit there horizontally…

oh yeah, i forgot to reply about this part…
mechanic is alot better, it terms of actual readings, but i don’t want an actual line running to my a-pillar with oil going through it. thats why i got an electric one, and yes, you may ocasionally have problems with it. i did when i first installed it, but its working fine now.
Thanks for the info StreetRacer. I just bought a mechanical gauge. I was originally leaning towards the mechanical gauge and thats also the reason I didn’t want to use the a-pillar. I decided to mount the gauge down by the ashtray. The line and electricity were all easily accessible down there. I’ll post a pic once i get it done. Thanks again for all the info!

it fits 3 guages in a DIN size opening, ive tried it.
Yea man, that is nice. The only thing that stopped me from doing that is the weird-ass dash kit I have. Anyways, I ordered an autometer mounting cup. With that i can tilt it up and angle it to face the driver. I’ll mount it right in front the ashtray. You could probably mount two side-by-side that way. I’ll post pics once it’s done.
yeah that is pretty nice. i’ve only double pods for there before, never seen a triple until just now. I plan to put an Apex S-AFC there, so putting gauges there is out for me. but yeah, looks nice.
I have my Oil press. A/F ratio gauges angle mounted on top of the instrument cluster. I mathced them to stock distance so your eyes dont refocus everytime you switch gauges. Of course to look up over the dash you have to raise up… I wen with all electric gauges since they mount with only wires and not the actual lines
