Question: Powerlocks and windows

Just wondering if I were able to find the things requred to have power windows and lock could they be put into a non powered car with just rolldown windows and manual locks? If so what all would I need (is there a list or is it just a complete assembly that is replaced)? Can i just use my original door pannels and mount the swicthes in or is is molded into the door handle bracket? Can I get the parts from a car someone is parting out? (Dont know what the handle area looks like anyhow) Has anyone done this before? Thanks!

You can put both in. You can use your factory door panels. They make kits and the kits come with the motors switches and plugs for where the cranks used to be. You would have to cut some places to put the switches for the power windows. You could probably get some motors and switches off of a wrecked g2 and that might work.

Also if you didnt want to cut your door panels, you could get some off of a car that has power windows and use those switches.

Yea I was mainly thinking of stock parts so i can make the car not so maoded inside, anlso would like to sue the original door pannels that come with the car. Im not to crafty anyhow LOL! So since Im not 100% sure on how a powered car looks like inside where are the switched located?

The switches are located just in front of the handle on the door. The slanted handle not the little cup handle.

Ok but those can be put into a non poawered car? Just a little cutting required?

Yes, You could probably get the panel that the switches are on from the dealer or a junk-yard and switch just the panel out instead of the whole door panel. I would think that plastic triangular piece just pops out. But if you buy a kit they come with the switches which you just have to cut a square out anywhere you want them and pop them in.

Yea but That to me is phony LOL, want it to look good, just hope i can get some parts from the parting cars that are in the FS area, and maybe get a complete set of power windows and locks with the handle… Just maybe with my luck I can lol… Which I could remember what the handles look like, been about 2 weeks since I test drove it and now its hard to get a hold of the guy since hockey is back in and he works at the local area getting it prepared…

just buy some GS doors and swap your doors out for them, get the harness for it also. Wire everything up, get your doors sprayed and your good to go.

i just did the swap
stock everything
i used the power harness and cut the wires for the pw and then ran them through the molex piece and wired them up. Search for it, its been discussed in detail.

Thanks will do!

If you are interested, I have both motors and tracks from a '93 GS-R (both motors work and have been tested). I also have a pass side window switch and door handle that the switch fits in. If you are interested, let me know and we can work something out.

Thanks.

does anyone have that link where its discussed??? i wanna swap my door from my LS without powerlocks to my GS…i need to change the whole lock assembly cause i want to have the locks work with the right key for the right car rather then have a key for each door.
