Questions: B16a pistons in a B18a engine (LS)

what needs to be changed other than the pistons?
is this advised?
what benefits are there?

B16A pistons should fit your current B18A block with little to no modification at all. And you’ll be bumping your CR up a little bit. And if you can get a set of them, I don’t see why not putting them in.

hey dude the B16 pistons will fit but just get new rings.

But if you want to get alot of power get some CTR pistons im running them in my car now and it is alot better high cp pistons

aight peace out good luck
:ok:

I’m curious about this modification. What gains can I expect from bumping my compression from 9.2 with the stock pistons to 10.8 with the PR3 pistons? I know I have to run high octane (93 down here in Puerto Rico :naughty: ) so that won’t be a problem.

I get 94 some places on pumps in cleveland. didnt know 93 was something to be proud of.

BAMMMM 118octane :getsome:

it’s just that i always hear people complaining that the best thing they get is 91 octane.

how much is that 118 octane???

the best ive seen at pumps in Oregon and washington is 92 octane.

i cant tell you how much performance you’ll gain, i’m still in the process of installing mine. (waiting on rings)

get your head shaved .020" and use the pr3 pistons and you’ll have about 11.3:1 CR … just about perfect for running 92 octane

i know people use the CTR pistons, but i really dont think its necessary. plus you’ll have to either machine the end of the rod or the inside of the piston to fit the ctr pistons on LS rods… too much work if you ask me… not to mention that if you shave the material off the rods, it’ll weaken the rod… taking the material off the inside of the piston would be better but requires a good machinist. not to mention that the pr3 pistons are alot easier to get for a good price. CTR/ITR pistons cost way too much still.

you gotta take the head off to install the pistons, why not have it shaved .020" for $30 (thats what i cost me to do .030" on mine)

I have 10.8:1 with 92 octane it runs fine no detonation

i dont know its at like 1-2 pumps in san diego. and i havent even took the time to find out where. i saw a article in a super chevy about 76 offering it in socal for the weekend warrior and then i found that. 24hour available racing gas. but i dont know anyone with a 17:1 compression ratio engine in thier racing cars.
