Quick body harness question.

92’ GS-R || B17 with B16 internals || Manual

Just got my engine and tranny back from the shop from being overhauled. Previous owner did the most rediculous/laziest wire tuck I have ever seen. He shoved the entire body harness through the firewall so now I have a crows nest at the foot of my passenger seat. I’m throwing a CEL but I can’t check it because the connector pins appear to be non-existent because the harness is all tangled up. I can’t seem to find any B17 body harnesses online or locally, is there a compatible harness I could use with minimal to no modification?

Also, am I OBD0 or OBD1?

ALL 92-93 Integras are OBD1, from factory.

As far as compatible harnesses… I ‘think’ the next best thing is the GS, as it is the only other DA to come with ABS.

But of course that is not going to be a vtec harness, so that would have to be addressed…

Sadly this is a tough situation and would really be worth your time to un-loom your current harness and re route it all and re-loom it. Provided you can’t find another DB2 harness, that really is your best option imo.

Thanks for the reply! That’s what I would resort to if I couldn’t find anything BUT I just did loads of research and finally found something similar to my situation, i’d just like a second opinion. I read that since the similarity between the B16 and B17 blocks are so close i’d be able use a B16 harness which is generally easy to find. I had also read in the Team-Integra forums that I would be 100% plug and play which sounds great. Is this correct?

If your issue is with the main harness being messed up then the engine harness is not your problem. And thus a b16a engine harness isn’t going to help you at all.

If you want a new main harness then you can make a GS harness work. You would just need to repin a couple things and add the vtec wiring. If you’re careful and/or good with wiring you can pull it off. If you’re not savy with wiring or car electronics then it might be a problem.

If you also need a new engine harness then you will want a 92-93 GSR harness. You can make any 92-93 Integra harness work with minor changes. And you can use any b series obd1 harness with a little bit more work.

Yes, good lookin out Colin…

I simply assumed the OP was talking about the engine harness since there was mention of an attempted “wire tuck”…

Indeed if the issue is with the engine/motor harness, that is a separate entity than the body/chassis harness.

Oh okay, sorry I got mixed up. I’m still learning lol, thanks alot. I’ve decided to just take the harness out and untuck it. It’s just really irritating that someone would do this.

It’s all the rage right now and in general a large percentage of cars are getting hacked up right now. We’re at the end of an era with this chassis they’re cheap and plentiful, soon there won’t be but a few unmolested DA’s left. Kinda sad actually. But that’s what happens with most cars as they get older, especially ones that have such an enthusiast following or are used in lots of racing classes.
