Race Cat

I’m looking to buy a race cat, my current cat is making weird noises and it isnt the heat shield, be cause the local shop cut that off and it still makes the noise, its a rattling noise at idle, anyways does anyone know where i can get a decent brand name race cat? I was looking at the Focuz race cat, any suggestions on sites that sell them? The one i was looking at wanted $45 too ship it plus a $10 processing fee and $75 for the cat…

please reply asap…i need to buy one soon…

Are you sure first of all that it IS your cat? Cuz that sound could be a world of things. But if it your cat…Carsound makes the best “race” cats for your money. Made by Magnaflow, they’ll usually run you about $100 or so and have many universal applications.

im looking for something that will bolt right up to my header and my exhaust. i need to keep it bolt on cause my exhisting cat is a bolton as well, thanx for the reply!

Carsound is the way to go then…good luck!

www.testpipes.com

they have tons of “cats” for sale

I just orderd their 2.5" testpipe! should be here wednesday of thursday! What can i expect in power gains? they say 5-15 horse, but im thinkin like 5-8…

Hey where did u get that testpipe? And will it make a diff in sound? im sure it will…

I ordered it from www.testpipes.com, im sure it will be louder than my current I/H/E, but as far as sound i wont know till i install it.

Just so you guys know, testpipes.com doesn’t really make cats…all it is is a straight pipe that doesn’t even look like a cat. and the flange isn’t even welded onto the pipe when you get it. It’s a waste of your time and money. Trust me, friend bought one and we basically threw it away…

Testpipe 2.50

I got my testpipe from them (2.50 btw), well I’ve been using it for about 2 months, and it seems to be working fine, I have no headers or exhaust but I have a custom intake, and it just sounds nice, and gives me a few ponys here, its the only acutally money invested mod I’ve done to the car and it by far helps probably the most. well I hope you injoy yours when you get it, just remember when you need to get a sticker, put your gay cat back on… =)

I’m glad to here from someone who has one! does your car back fire at all? i heard it might make that happen, but im glad to here that it gave u a little more power!

The porcelin “honeycomb” type material inside may have been damaged and is rattling around, but I doubt it. I’d check to make sure it isn’t your center-pipe just to make sure you don’t waste your $$$

I had problems with my car rattling a while ago. Turns out that the honeycomb inside got all broken apart. A month later the honeycomb just pretty much exploded, disenegrated, and went out the exhaust. I had a “hollowed” out cat, and there was more top-end, but my low end had gone to ****, my powerband was like 5000-redline, and it sucked. I got a cat put back on my car and I’m so much happier with it now. It lost a little off the top-end, but I got my midrange back. Now it pulls from like 4-redline. I wouldn’t reccomend a test-pipe to anyone with a near-stock motor. Only get it if you’re running FI or N2O. That’s just my experience…HTH

Oh yeah, my car used to backfire all the time. I think I’m running a little rich, but it backfired waay too much. It’s very very very dangerous at a gas station. Kinda like going in there with a loaded gun. Not cool at all.

back firing

since, I still have factory exchaust and restantors and muffler, I didn’t get any back fire because there was still enough backfire to make it be ok, ya, I like it and it works fine, when I get a custom 2.50 piping all the way back with a hi-flow cat, I’ll be selling the testpipe, because I don’t want to have any back fire, but as for the testpipe giving me backfire… nah, it runs like a beauty…
