race set up wanted(scca)

ok pretty sure this is in the right section so here goes… i was looking for a complete list of all out race suspension parts for our g2’s. everything u can think of. cages, roll bars, lca’s, traction bars, coilovers(best for scca racing), good racing rims, tires, and anything else u can think of… i’m looking to get suggestions of people with similar race setups becaus i’m planing on scca and want a whole list. thanx

Kind of a vague question. SCCA racing is quite broad. Solo 2, Solo 1, Club racing, Pro racing, Rally racing(now with NASA I think)?

Also searching does a body good. :bang:

If Solo II, what class are you wanting to fit into? You can do some pretty basic stuff and stay in STS and whomp up on quite a few rear-drive cars.

:werd: and :werd:

well i went to look at the scca rule book to see wat class i was gonna run in but i couldnt download the rule book, so … i have a swap so wat class would i run in.

If you’ve got a B17 and you’ve got a 92 or 93, you can actually run stock class with nothing more than struts (talk about a sleeper). However, with a B18C, C1, or C5 (or a Frank, for that matter), you’ll be running street mod (I think, anyway) or E mod. Either way, your best bet is to get a hold of another set of wheels and some race tires (I’m told the Kumho’s are the way to go). That and pretty much anything you want to do with your suspension (not that all of it is worth the money) should be allowed, especially in E mod. Of course, you’ll be running against Catterhams, but if you’re just doing it for fun like I am, who cares?

If you’ve got a B17 swap, AND you convert the WHOLE car to a GSR, you can run in stock class.

If it’s not a B17, you have to run in SM (Street Mod).

Sorry, my bad. I suppose you could just put the badging on (and of course, the ABS…whee) and they’d never really know the difference. Of course, if you went to that much trouble why not just build the donkey out of it and run in a class that’s much more fun…

alrite well no b17 here jus b16, and other goodies but no internal mods yet jus everything bolt on possible and gonna have everything for our suspension also, and wat would everyone recomend for a good wheel setup. and wat class would this put me in.

You’re going to run Street Mod, probably the hardest class to win in, in your car. Street Mod is an arms race, and if you don’t bring at least $10000, you won’t win. That is, unless your local area doesn’t have any fast SM cars

SM is a bear with ANY front-drive car. It will be especially tough because the B16s don’t have the midrange that the B18A1s do…that means higher revs needed in the corners. However, you can do pretty much anything you want to your car so long as you keep your interior intact. One piece of advise: save some cash for race tires. Last time I checked you could run DOT R tires in SM class…you’ll need them to keep up to the big dogs.

Well to put my little something in; I’m running my 90 with a B17 in the SM class with street tires. Yeah, it’s my first year and I’m a novice but getting more consistant. If your just starting out just go out there and race. Get used to your car and now it’s limitations and yours of course. I’m doing it for the fun right now and it’s not that seriouse that I’m winning to a guy that’s 70 years old and drive a turbo Dodge Colt. But that’s just me.
