i was wiring up some rear speakers in the civic i got(yeah i know not a teg but might be helpful for others to)
it didnt have rear speakers so i ran speaker wire to the pioneer deck and spliced them in to the 2 empty channels that werent being used, purple and green paired wires.
after i got done none of the speakers work but the stereo itself still operates fine.
what would cause the speakers not to emit sound? i am sure FCM knows the answer to this one
maybe you grounded out on some of the speaker wire? i don’t think that would have caused for all of them to go out. do the fronts still work after disconnecting the rears?
nope, no sound at all, the fronts worked fine, i even just put some pioneers up front and they sounded great. then went to run the wire for the red nothing at all.
i cut the wires i ran at the back of the deck like i never did it and still nothing.
Actualy gilcontr has it right, I would be willing to bet there is a short in the new speaker leads or the speakers, a short on any output will shut them all down.
Also, all Honda/Acura come prewired for rear speakers, even if rear stock speakers was not an option on the model.
What year is the Civic, and what is the make and model of the HU?
Try this, fade the HU all the way to the front speakers, turn HU on, if front speakers work you have a short on the rear speakers or leads. 94
PS, rewire using stock speaker wire, also make sure speaker terminals are not touching metal when they are mounted.
