My radio seems to turn off by itself when the music get to loud or when there is bass in the car.I have to lower my bass as low as possible just to listen to my radio as high as I want it.Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?Thnks for the help.
Please help, because I want to buy subs and wouldn’t want to waste my money if the radio it’s going to be gay.:tapfing:
Maybe you should have a little more patience? It’s only been 30 minutes.
I know I’m sorry im a really impatient person.Sometimes when im driving in traffic i just want to blast onto the side of the street and pass everyone.I guess patience is a virtue.
have u checked to see if the plugs are correct, groundings, fuses?
wat kinda of deck is it? aftermarket/oem?
If the sound is cutting out, but HU stays on, at higher volumes and comes back on when you lower the volume, or turn the unit off and then on again, you have a short.
The short will be on a speaker output, one or more of the 8speaker leads, [4 pos.(+) 4 neg.(-)] or possibly at a speaker itself, It is the HUs thermal protection circuit that is shutting down the HUs output to protect itself.
You can usually narrow down what channel is the problem buy using the fade and balance controls of your HU…
Fade all the way to the front, turn up the volume, if it still cuts out fade all the way to the rear, if it no longer cuts out, the short is definitely in the front, the reverse is true, if it does not cut out when faded to the front but will when faded to the rear, the short is in the rear.
If you have determined it is the front or rear speakers, you can then fade back to the middle and use the balance control to balance left to right to determin which speaker/channel has the short.
EG; if the sound cuts out anytime the front right speaker is on, but does not cut out if front right speaker is not on, [faded or balanced out] the short is on the front right output of the HU.
It could be a pinched speaker lead behind the HU or a short at the speaker.
Start by removing/disconnecting the speaker that is causing the problem, if problem is still there, you will know it is not the speaker itself, and it has to be in the wiring.
The other possible problem is a defective fuse, [not a blown fuse, just defective].
If the HU itself cuts out, all lights and display turn off just like if you turn the unit off, it is a power supply problem, a poor connection on a power lead or fuse holder or the fuse itself, replace the fuses with a new one, a common problem with “blade” fuses is the fuse filament can break at the “leg”, still maintain contact until more current is drawn through it, [turning up the volume or a lot of bass].
Check all the above and let us know.94
im pretty sure im having this problem. it cuts off completely, and i butt spliced the power wire to my aftermarket antenna wire. i just havent messed with it yet to figure it out. it only happens once a day or so…
HU dosnt turn off jus the radio turns off then back on.Was just driving to walgreens and messing wth the settings i am pretty sure it is the rear speakers. When my gurl goes home im going to take them out and check.
