Okay I have read almost every thread. Here is my problem. Originally when I turned the ignition I wouldn’t even get it to roll over. Sometimes it would start but then die immediately. I replaced the starter but I am still having problems. My starter now rolls over every time, but on very hot days my car won’t fire up. Sometimes it fires up but then dies like it ran out of gas or the electrical system died. Today it kept firing up but the RPM kept falling below 500 and the car was dying, I kept giving it gas for like a minute and finally it the engine kept running. I have read all threads about relays, pumps, ignitions, etc. I am sick of this! Someone please help, if you wan’t please IM me. My Aol is Imshadowz. I have listened for the fuel pump to prime and I can hear what sounds like a slight wurring sound. I just dont’ know where to start. Where is a good place to take my car for diagnostics? I tested my ignition coil and the resistance was out of specs, but the temperature was about 85 degrees which I understand effects the readouts. Would a bad ignition coil cause the car to start and then die suddenly? I would think that it would only prevent the car from starting. I heard that some of you know how to test the fuel relay? I have an ohmeter so what are the specs I should check for. Sorry for the long post but I need this car to run for a long road trip that I am taking this month. I have today off so someone please help!
Okay, I went and bought one today. THe only problem is that I don’t live near an Acura dealer, so I cross referenced at honda. The only problem is the my part is slightly different. It is still a main fuel relay, but the part number is RZ 0063 and in Acura’s mine was RZ0067. They look the same, they do the same thing, but the new one is black and the bracket is poiting in the opposite direction. The honda guy was really cool, sold it to me for $49.99 (regularly he said it was $70), and even said that if it didnt’ work he would get me a refund. Well i am going to put it in…
Yeah, it worked. I don’t know yet if it solved the starting problem though (praying it will). So far so good. $35??? Where? Which Acura dealer? Let me know because thats cheap, I have called 2 in the Sacramento Area and they were $59.99. Did you bargain? I have found most Acura dealers to bargain for a better price but that is a steal. Anyways, the Honda relay worked and all you have to do is switch the bracket witht the original.
like i said, my girl picked it up for me…so she got the “nice boobies” discount! it was actually over at niello acura by the way. hope your car is fine now! later
hi guys, im just wondering, when you switched the relay, didyou realy have to take off all those panels like it says in the teg tips, or just the one on the drivers side? thanks for the info, and i hope it fixes your problem. mine does exactly the same thing.
Well unless you have little elf hands, I suggest that you remove em. Actually, you need to unscrew the bolt that holds on the relay, and I don’t think that you can do that with the sheild attached, and of course to remove that you need to remove the center console (the one with the shifter boot). Dang! taking apart tegs is like playing an RPG: You can’t do just one thing without doing fifty thousand other things. It’s like the Honda never expected us to take anything apart!
