Hello g2ic,
I recently rebuilt the front spindles on my 91 ls 4dr… I did the 5 lug conversion by machining the front hubs of the CTR to fit into the original ls spindles with new wheel bearings. During this process I also installed a 97 jdm gsr engine with first gen LSD b16 trans. I updated the half shaft to the 94-01 integra half shaft with axles to match (autozone) when driving strait there is no issue, but when turning it vibrates violently. Almost like the lug nuts are about to fall off violent. I have searched the forums, google, and local opinions and haven’t had much luck on anything solid. Can someone please shine some light on this problem from experience.
Thank you
-Benny.
I also replaced the lower ball joints too
is everything tight? did you machine something with too big of a clearance causing parts to shift during turning? jack up the front of the car, turn the wheel and spin the tires.
AutoZone axles are garbage, I’d mention those as the culprit… But being that you just rebuilt the front drivetrain you are going to have to triple check EVERYTHING you did.
Yes, I have checked axle nuts, lug nuts, and the wheels just had new tires and balance put to them. When I machined the wheel hubs I had the spindles off the car and completely disassembled. I machined the circumference and the depth of the hubs. I didn’t personally do it, I had a shop called m&j dyno do it. They also pressed in the new wheel bearings. When I picked up the spindles he guaranteed the work and spun tested them with load on the spindles.
Yes, but did you actually jack up the front of the car (both wheels off the ground), turn the wheels all the way in one direction, spin one or both and listen or look for vibrations etc. Also, is it happening equally for both sides? Will it happen during a very slow 360 turn or only when the speed is up enough to toss the weight of the car?
Aim waiting on the car to arrive (just moved to houston tx) from the shipping company. I will try it and let you know the results. It happens at all speeds
