Really messed up this time, feeling stupid

Hey guys, hoping to get a little input here.

I have a b17 in my DA and I was replacing the coolant temp sensor. I got the old one out, put the new one on and tightened it down. I felt it “give” and I knew it had broke off in there. Thinking I could reach in and feel how much thread there was to grab on to, it (the broken thread part) fell inside the head!!! :wtf:

So I basically just left it. My first thought was maybe I could get a magnet in there, but a magnet wont work. So I’m guessing I have to take off the whole head??? Or maybe there is some other option. It is right underneath the vtec solenoid and cam, I heard it drop to the bottom of head, top of block.

Any input would be great, I am really in need of getting this resolved before work on Monday.

Hold on… before I say anything, can you post a picture?

I will take a picture when I get to the shop later today. But honestly it’s just the hole where the sensor goes. I’m afraid the head is gonna have to come off which I do not want to do.

Finally got it out. Went in through the coolant hose hole I was able to push it to where I could grab it with some needle nose. Huge relief I won’t be doing that again
