have some marks on the edges of my arches from my old wheel setup hitting it and these would cover it nicely till i get it repaired and the car repainted next year
Funny… I bought my DA from an older gentleman with 200k on the clock and there were no signs of rust on the rear wheel wells… of course I stripped my car down to bare metal, but still, no hint of rust from the wheel-well guards.
Keep them clean in general, and if you’re that anal, pull them off once a week to clean under them. Simple enough.
I love that I have em and take them for granted while others seem to think they’re “rare”.
Funny… I bought my DA from an older gentleman with 200k on the clock and there were no signs of rust on the rear wheel wells…
LOL, Utah? of course there was no sign of rust! I had my new/used hood+bumper+fender shipped FROM Utah to Wisconsin for a reason! Too bad I could not just get the whole rear wheel well, but unfortunately it is attached a bit more firmly than the other bits. Next time I should just buy the whole shell (sigh).
That being said, my car is originally a Cali car. I’m just saying, rear guards do NOT cause rust if the car is properly maintained.
No argument there bro, and yes I do know u have a winter, and ski resorts, and all that. I just found it funny that I had to have parts shipped all the way from Utah to Wisconsin, and here you go, with your perfect rust-free car, being stripped and painted to be even more perfect (sigh). In any case, the rust in my pic is more from the amount of salt being used here, and less from the snow and ice… so not contradicting you at all, more like envy, LOL.
Ok so, We are talking about the thin rubber pieces that line the wheel wells? Terrible descriptions here.
Aren’t those stuck on with adhesive? I don’t see how you can remove them and re-attach them…Or are we talking about the INNER wheel well plastic pieces for the rear?
They’re called Fenderwall Trim; they were an OEM option
P/N: 08P62-SK7-201 (a few sites have them, others have been out of stock for a while now)
They go for as much as one is willing to sell for/pay
That’s my car you posted a picture of. I took them off when I got my new wheel setup and they’ve them sitting in my closet. I didn’t have any rust under mine whatsoever, and my assumption is that were installed at the dealer as an option. They’re mounted via three mounting clips on either the inner fender/rear quarter panel.
Here’s some pictures I just took of them:
Ok so, We are talking about the thin rubber pieces that line the wheel wells? Terrible descriptions here.
If that’s just me, sorry man. To me:
Wheel well /fender “liner” = big curved sheets of plastic inside the wheel well, attached by plastic rivets and screws, and you do NOT just pull them off with your hands unless you are hulk, or unless they are broke. throwing those away (on most cars) would be a mistake, b/c wheel spray, mud and salt would go to some bad places. You can get them for around $20 ea. on car-part and any salvage yard.
Wheel well/fenderwall lip protector/trim, on this car, is a reinforced (the reinforced ribs is what makes it stay on) piece of soft plastic attached to the inside edge of the wheel well, where the outer and inner body panel are welded together to form an edge. Mine was not glued, or else the glue had long since dried out. It does collect dirt on the inside of the edge, even though it protects the bottom facing side from stone chips. The rust through in my pic is from inside, just above the “protector”, and yes, if you cleaned there weekly, prolly would not have happened.
(I thought the OP meant this piece)
NO clips on mine, not even the one original piece still on the car, so they must be different depending on year.
