changing my pads, i could not move the drivers side rear lower caliper mounting bolt for the life of me. after stripping the s*** out of the bolt head, i took it in to midas. it was gonna be over a hundred bucks for them to remove the bolt for me, and they wanted the car all day. “yeah, the brakes on those integras are always a problem”, the guy says. he said if they did get the bolt off, there was a chance the caliper would be shot. the road salt here in michigan seems to have an adverse effect on anything metal. has anyone else had this problem?
also, i was wondering how hard it would be to throw the front brakes(rotors calipers, etc) on the back. i would then go to an aftermarket oversized setup in the front.
i actually just changed my all my pads/rotors this weekend…i didnt have any trouble w/ the caliper mounting bolts…i live in CT…the only bolts i had trouble w/ were the 2 phillips screws on the rotors…had to go to firestone…
try firestone about that bolt…charged me $15 to loosen those bolts…and $15 to get out my stripped oil drain bolt
neil’s prob right…go to another place like i also suggested…before you go though…try the vise grips…but throw some liquid wrench or somethign on there…maybe you can loosen it up
I had the same problem this weekend when I changed my Pads. I torched the bolt housing for about 5 min, hammered a socket on, and as I was heating up the housing(being carefull not to heat for too long incase of damage to the piston/wheel bearing) I turned the bolt loose. I took quite a bit of time to get it. It you have experience, try that.
