Rear defroster

After reading numerous posts about this I am still unsure as to what exactly my trouble is…

My rear defroster does not work.
1)The fuse under the hood and next to the driver are both fine.
2)There is power going to both the fuse next to the driver and the actual switch.
3)I have tried another switch and the problem stayed the same.

Also, I am unfamiliar with the “click” noise I should hear if it worked correctly–I don’t think I heard it when the defroster functioned. All the other symptoms of a bad ICU are NOT occurring.

Ideas?

Have you checked the actual connections to the defroster traces? Mine were broken off and I ended up using some solder to re-attach them.

If those are fine, I would pull out the ICU and take a look at the capacitor. Its not that hard to check it.

It is the ICU that controls the rear window defog relay, [the relay is what you would hear “click” on] so the problem could be the relay or the output to the relay from the ICU.:hmm: 94

The connectors back there appear attached on both sides…I’ll check out the ICU.

ICU took a poop like mine.
