rear ended, fixing bumper

So I was rear ended at a low speed pretty much destroying my bumper cover and denting the rear valance piece. This slightly warped the left side of the metal bumper under the cover a little bit more in that the right side but nothing crazy. Is it safe to just bolt up a new bumper cover to that, or should I go ahead and buy a new bumper support at the same time. I know it sounds like a simple question but I am really debating if I should buy a new actual bumper or not in addition to the cover.

I would say just find another cover if the damage as you mentioned to the metal piece is not as bad. Mine was also rear ended, but on the opposite end of yours. I’ll be replacing just the cover and have it repainted soon…

If the bumper support is too mangled, it can make the rear bumper cover sit incorrectly… Not to mention it won’t absorb shock nearly as well if you’re hit again…

I guess it’s a matter of what you’re comfortable with.
