i have been up since 8 am trying to do my suspension. ive had to take 25 breaks getting so frustrated with this car. It is now almost 4pm and my car is on jack stands i sprained my wrist and im hungry as fuck. The only thing stopping me it the lca bolt that goes through the rear knuckle/hub assembly. Is there an easy way to get this bolt to go through? i have the camber kit loosened, ive tried jacking up on the lca and nothing PLEASE HELP ME WHATS THE EASIEST WAY I AM ABOUT TO KILL MYSELF
I saw you posting on the other lca thread but just to be clear… you should have your suspension on jackstands and thread in the bolt nearest to the subframe first… then the shock bolt then WITH A JACK UNDERNEATH THE LCA, slowly jack up the lca till the bolt hole near the hub lines up. Thread your bolt through and with a small screwdriver… punch the bolt head slowly through and you should be able to screw it in… hope this helps.
its on after busting open m middle finger its on before i do the front is it just as hard???
It’s the same… just use a jack to lift the lca up instead of your weight… you might end up hurting yourself more…
+1
i had one hell of a time trying to take off the rear LCA a few years ago, couldnt because the bolts were seized and then had one hell of a time trying to put some bolts back in.
The problem I had was when I jacked up the car and took off some bolts, the hub’s weight + the shock’s pressure made everything shift, so nothing lined up (it shifted diagonally which made it really really bad). Luckily I had spare jacks to lift the hub to get it close to where it was and then used a screwdriver to get the holes closer together. The key here is to have another jack to help lift. As soon as I got the holes lined up close enough I put the bolt in and lightly tapped it with a rubber mallet to get it to go through.
Its tough as hell to do without the proper tools or experience. I swear i’m never attempting doing that again unless I have a spare car or like 2 mechanics there with me.
good luck.
It’s not that bad. You do it once or twice and you’ll get the hang of how the suspension moves when being jacked up. It also helps if you have a friend hanging around…
Every other weekend… my cousin and I would get together and work on our cars… if one gets stuck… the other one helps or drives to the parts store to get parts…
yeah i hurt myself doing the rear using my weight to lift it up f’d up my shoulder really bad so im waiting until tommorow to do the front since im selling this car i can take my time with it. so i replaced the injector o rings and tranny cooler lines
