ok i know theres tie bars and subframe braces and blah blah…
what i’m looking for here is some insight, i’ve seen beaks, benen and one other actual DA specific lower bar.
my proposal is to possibly start manufacturing these. recently started making some steering bushings (many thanks to Dan again) but it got me thinking, i have a machine shop what else can i make DA specific.
what i need are some good pics of these bars so i can sorta see the design and some insight from some of the suspension gurus around here.
if i’m going to measure from bolt to bolt to get my length should the car be on the ground or on jack stands? will a straight aluminum bar wiht just some nice slots/holes in it for looks work or does it have to be kinda angled at each end like the benen bar i’ve seen.
any other points or comments. getting the material and manufacturing it should not be a problem and can even have it powder coated or anodized just need to figure out measurements… if anyone has one out there i’d be willing to give you the 1st production bar in exchange for letting me get some measurments, this probably pertains more to local people unless some one wants to send me one to measure lol.
you might get more support if you come up with a harness bar. We have plenty of tie bars for our chassi and alot of people dont consider the tie bar as a crucial part of chassis bracing, im not saying the harness bar does but alot more people might be interested. The tie bar has gained a reputation of just bling.
i would buy a harness bar from you, not a tie-bar. only reason is because i can get other tie-bars already, there arent any harness bars for our cars.
maybe even an ABS compatible upper front bar…
Who makes a da specific tie bar that is good I don’t want obx or whatever and as for a harness bar where would be a good bolt on location I’d rather not get into welding fabrication as I’m not really set up for it I can have anything welded easily just not something I was looking at I figured the benen one is one of the nicer ones I’ve seen especially because of clearance idk if no one is really interested that’s fine still gonna fab my own up anyway
Not the harness bar crap again. There is a reason why there isn’t a harness bar: harness bars typically mount to the seatbelt location that doesn’t exist because of the automatic seatbelts in our USDM Integras. If you weld a mounting point in, you could use just about any generic harness bar on the market (like any other Honda). The other option is to get a bolt in roll cage that has a harness bar built in (there is even a version of the Autopower bar that has a harness bar).
I have the ASR setup for my teg. But if you do a lower tie bar, I’d do a replica of the Benen bar. It’s solid, and looks way clean. I was going to try to have them reproduced at one time but just didn’t have to time to get further into it.
That was my thoughts exactly I like the way the benen looks and was just throwing it out there regardless if anyone else would want them I’m still gonna make one for myself and when it’s finished I’ll post pics if people want them ill figure out a cost and go from there
