*Rear* Manual Seatbelt Swap

so was there a nut welded where he put it?

Yes it is part of the auto seatbelt mounting if i remember right, but the auto seatbelts were made to distribute the load on a wider area, which would also make me question the choice as it wasnt designed for the load he may put on it.

i dont think u actually have to weld it. u can probably just get away with a nut and lock washer. as long as its tight, there wont be any problem. the only reason its welded is to make installation easier. But if u have to weld it yourself it may be easier to just not weld it. the welding part isnt for safety, i dont think.

First of all you would be lucky to be able to get a nut behind the hole due to the lack of access, and secondly you are then risking pull out. If you are going to attempt this I would also question the hardware he used for the recoil mounting. On the auto seatbelts the force is going to be distributed through the upper mounting, not the lower assembly. He used what looks to be 12mm bolts to secure that plate. I have snapped 12mm bolts with a 3/8 driver, I would be concerned with them sheering off.

Here is what properly installed Canadian seatbelts look like. These cost me less then $50 for everything. Im not going to argue about this, but I would make sure that you are aware of the consequeces of faulty installed seatbelts. You could be held responsible if anything were to happen to your passenger in the case of an accident.

hey mmtegra when u did the switch did u have problems with the seat belt not wanting to come out? was the seat belt stuck?
