Rear Speakers

I just took out the 6x9 rear speakers from my Civic and getting ready to install them into the teg, come to find out though, the teg takes 6x5’s in the back. Anyone modify their so that 6x9’s would fit? And what was done to make them fit?

No such thing as a 6x5, or did you mean 6.5"?

What is the model of your G2?:hmm:94

It’s a 92 Gs. Thought they were 6x5’s, but that’s only cause that’s what someone told me. I don’t have the car with me right now, parked in a friends garage, so couldn’t really measure…was just going by what someone had told me on another board…a much less reputable one i guess

Any ideas on how to make them fit without cutting anything? Maybe a bracket of somesort? Or mounting them from underneath instead of top mounting?

They are 6.5s. I have Polk Audio 6.5 in the back of my Integra. Same size fits my doors which are a/d/s components.

I mean is it a hatch or sedan?

The only info I have is 90-93 Integra Sedan GS is it has 6x9s in the rear.
The 90-93 Integra Sedan has 6.5" in the rear.
The 90-93 Integra hatch also has 6.5" in the rear sides.

There is no good way to fit a 6x9 in the rear of the sedan, and you do not want to cut the rear deck, it is “structural”.

In a hatch it’s just a matter of replacing the stock speaker plates with custom ones, however, a properly installed smaller speaker will outperform an improperly installed bigger speaker.:whisper:94

i had some rather large-magnet 6x9’s in my teg for years. you definately have to make custom brackets to hold them in place, but once installed you couldnt tell. used factory grills ect…it IS possible to do, if you really want.

Something I’m gonna have to do for now anyways. Don’t have the $$$ to get new speakers…

I’ll see if I can’t fashion some bracket or something out of some wood…At least to get them in there until i get some other work done and have some coin for some new speakers

If it is a hatch, [you still have not said] that’s what I do, make brackets out of MDF. 94

It is a hatch. I didn’t think you could get a GS in a sedan, but could be wrong, still new to the 'teggy world

I put mine in with a little cutting and drilling to make new screw holes. I put the factory speaker covers and everything fit fine.

Looks like what I ended up doing. Little bit of cutting and drilling and good to go> more of a pain in the butt then anything…

Beware of rattles… You would benefit more from a properly amped front stage unless all you are looking for is improved low end response without a subwoofer. I have been thinking about building a set of ported 5 1/2 in sub enclosures to fit underneith of those panels, but with the stock mounting design, rattles are inevitable.

renegadex96: Yes the four door does come in gs trim, and yes mine does come with factory 6"x9"s.
