My rear defroster takes a bit too long before it starts working and I’d like to replace the relay for it.
Can anyone tell me where this puppy is located (pics would be great!)
can you post if this works?
I am assuming that is the fuse box there and the relay is located above it?
I would also try looking at the lines on the back window as some might not be working. Mine takes long to and its because some of the lines are cut,so ill be buying a repair kit to fix them.
My light on the switch comes on but nothing happens on my window, what could be the problem with that?
There are 2 wires on the back window. Take the panel off and you will see them, one on each side. Sometimes they break off.
I checked those and they are not broken off.
Check to see if power is getting to the back,if not there might be a wire cut somewhere like under the dash or the plug on top in the back under the headliner.

here as some things the book says to check
these are for if the switch light comes on but the defogger does not work
- blown #31 (30amp fuse) in the main fuse box
- function test
- defogger relay
- broken defogger wire
- poor ground #g821 yellow/white an black/white
the ICU controls it to right
I am not sure on that but I have many good ones of those for sale too…I know it controls the intermit wipers an other iteams i should look in to that
If this were the case you’d see one line where it doesn’t defrost, that would be the one broken. In my case all mine defrost but it takes a minute or so versus a few seconds once the button is triggered.
anyone?..I would like to see the actual picture of the relay location too…
The relay is the left top one on the under dash fuse box.
To test the system rewmove the rear trim so you can access the leads going to the window, one side is ground, remove the grounding screw clean both contact surfaces and reconnect, unplug the ground from the window and make sure the twerminals are clean and it is tight, use a multimeter to test for power on the other side, [ign. on and defrost on] the power side should have 12.5V+on it.
The defrost relay is controled by the ICU, a momentary signal is sent to the ICU from the defrost button, that turns on the timer in the ICU sending a control signal to the defrost relaym turning it on, when timer runs out or ign. is turned off the ICU control turns off, sutting off the relay.
Your problem is a connection/contact problem, IMO, either on the groundside ot the power side, test the connectionsin the rear, [at the glasss]. 94

I checked this already back in this thread: http://forums.g2ic.com/showthread.php?186888-Rear-defroster-warms-up-very-slowly&highlight=defroster
I want to change the relay, that’s why I wanted to know where it was located.
