rear window tint

okay I know how to take off the tint on the sides of my windows, but the rear windshield has the defroster lines on them, which only two of the lines work…but I dont want to rip the lines off

is there a easier way of taking of the tint back there without ruining the lines???

Yah I took off my side tint a couple of days ago (pretty easy) but the back is a bi$*# and a half. Other then the way posted in the other forums I dont know how to do it without messing up the defroster. So if anyone else knows of an easy way, please tell us.

Get a tint shop to do it and save the huge hassle. Shouldn’t cost much at all, and they know exactly what they’re doing.

Plus, if they mess up the defroster lines, they can likely fix it easily too (easy to do actually)

should I remove the sides, or just have the shop do that too?

yeah do the sides it’ll save u alot of cash. And its not hard just use the formula in the teg tips section. Just do as it says and let it sit for a while. I left it for about 2 hours and constantly sprayed the formula on. good luck.

i heard that most shops don’t really charge that much more for removing tint though. Is it really worth the effort?

it usually cost about 50 bucks to remove tint on back window. aye go do a search i’ve answered this questions many times. I use to work at a tint shop and all i did was take off tint for about 5 months before dey taught me how to tint.

Removing tint on back window

ok things u need:
Black trash bag
razor blade
steel wool ( fine grit )
NOW ( can buy at walmart )
alot of paper towels
heat gun or torch
spray bottle of some sort
dishwasher soap

First off clean the outside of the window. Cut bottom of trash bag and one side so it opens up and covers the whole back window. soak the back window wit half soap and water. Lay the open trash bag to cover the whole window.cut along the edge of the window as if you were cuttin the tint for it. Now go inside the car and clean the inside of the backwindow and semi dry it
Lay the cut out trash bag over the rear dash. now spray the entire back windshield with 75 percent now and 25 percent water
soak it up good and wipe down the seats and panels cuz it will stain if not done. now apply the trash bag to cover the entire window. No light should be showing though. If u cut too much just take sum of the extra u cut off and cover it. Now park the car out in the sun for about 30 min to an hour or if deres no sun or its really cold u can use a torch. But the point is the NOW eats away the glue and you can should be able to peel the tint off no problem. Don’t heat one spot too long cuz it will burn the tint to the window, just enough to release the glue. Well if you did it rite you should hav a sticky, smelly, blurry window. Take the steel wool and scrub all of it off. It wont hurt the heater lines. make sure you are constintly wiping off the NOW from your seats and panels. It takes some time and patience but thats how i was taught to do it and it works every time. email me if you get stuck some where or got more questions. LiLRacer6256@aol.com

This tint place told me that by the looks of the bubbling on my tint, that I will have to lose my defroster lines. Well, from a search i found the lines won’t go, just the metal lines. Should I let them do it?

huh?

do you put the trash bag on the outside or on the inside?
and why do you need to clean the outside when your tinting the inside?..

K, I tried this yesterday and the tint still just flakes off when trying to remove it.
(Blew 2 hours of my only day off on that one)

-NOTE-- This method might work on SOME tints,
but “older” tint obviously needs a PROFESSIONALS touch.

My tint has only been on since March. What are the chances of it coming off easily?
