rebuilding b18b question

so i was wondering… if i just want to build a b18b as a daily driver. not as a race motor…just a plain daily driver, can i use the ACL bearing kit they sell online?

Here’s what happened. I bought a motor and i was told that it was in good running condition. popped the oil pan and windage tray off to find that the number two cylinder spun a rod bearing. well almost… it was flatend out to a really thin piece of metal. so here’s my idea. I’m going to buy another crank that’s in working condition. Can i just replace the crank and buy the ACL main and rod bearing set w/ thrust washer? or am i really going to have to plastigauge the crank and buy honda bearings if the tolerance isn’t into spec.

Remember, this motor will not be raced, just need it to run as a decently stong, last for alittle while motor.

WILL THIS WORK!?!? i’ve lost my job and my IS300 is killing me on gas!

You should be ok with just buying the bearings.

It depends on other things. You can’t just purchase an OEM spec set of ACL bearings and expect everything to work out smoothly. There is a possibility that the crank has been spun, meaning either thicker bearings, etc. Unless you are getting a brand new crank. There are other precautions you need to take as well. I would suggest searching through for builds and also the rebuild guide under the teg tips section.
