I kind of had trouble following this thread, but here’s my two cents.
Go to acura and order 3, 4, 13, 24, 5. It won’t cost a lot and will tighten everything up. My shifter used to move like it was in neutral in every gear. I replaced those parts and it was like brand new. It doesn’t seem like it would fix the problem but it does.
Im going to do an ITR or DC2 conversion to my g2 gsr and post it in teg tips lol.
I hate the slop so much. My tranny doesn’t grind like normal tegs do but it is getting to the point where it’s going to if I don’t have that shit fixed soon.
SO
Teg tip inc soon.
if u guys would replace the worn out o-rings and bushings, then tightened everything up real good after its all lubed up, the slop is almost eliminated if not entirely already. replace all those boots, the ball retainer parts and everything, and you’ll see the difference.
some ppl have just been changing the shift linkage over… but that takes care of a good amount… cuz they prolly tightened up that bolt & nut that goes thru the bottom of the shift lever really tight, or tighter than it ever was before. that alone without changing anything does a good amount. but u really do have to consider changing all the parts down in there, associated with the shifter.
Its odd that so many people have had the same problem, replaced all kinds of different stuff…And came out with a similar result. lol Makes me think that tightening (as someone said earlier) may be heavily to blame in many cases.
I put a dual bend short shifter and a new shift linkage in my old DA. I believe it was only bushings 16 and 19 that had been replaced with ES. And my shifting went from “1972 Econoline Schoolbus” to something out of speedracer. Its awesome.
Seriously though…I think that was the best mod I did to my car period. Unfortunatly my new teg has the same “16 wheeler” feel to it. I cant wait to replace whatever parts are shot with OEM or ES.
