recaro seat question

ok so today i talked my buddy into it, hes letting me put the recaro seat out of his 2001 acura integra type r. so clearly its got dc2 railed for a passenger side on it. what do i need to make this seat mount as my drivers seat in my 1991 db1? thanks

find a old set of rails from 90-93 integra seats get a piece of 3/4-1inch angle iron drill hole then mount that to the seat and then mount the rails to that but your going to have to cut and reweld a tap off the seat rails so it can bolt up to the car

that sounds like too much work just to have a nice seat

^^^ you gotta pay to play, especially in dealing with the DA chassis.

if your only going to test fit the seats in your car, iirc you can mount up 2-3 of the bolts of the dc2 rail to the DA chassis. If you plan on dailying the car with the seat, I highly recommend not doing that option, as it is not safe! Some other options are what the other person mentioned, fabbing a custom rail from an existing DA seat rail (technically the cheapest option if you know how to weld or someone else that does). Or depending if the recaro is a bottom mount or side mount (which I’m assuming you probably have a bottom mount version), you can check out wedge engineering, buddy club, or bride (if you source one) for rails if you don’t want to nor have the fabrication skills to modify the stock seat rails. However, this is not the cheapest options. Then another problem you may encounter is how to mount the seat belt to the recaro; and if you’re thinking about using a harness to bypass that problem USE A HARNESS BAR, I CANNOT STRESS THE IMPORTANCE AND SAFETY OF IT!!! Though finding a bolt-on harness bar will be an issue because since the USDM versions had automatic seat belts, there is no bolt on the b-pillar for the seat belts that are found in JDM/CDM DA’s with manual seat belts. The closest thing would be installing a autopower roll cage. When it comes to seating, the DA’s are really a pain, as it is not a true bolt on if you want to do it the right way unlike newer integras and civics.

Anyways, by the response of your last response, it seems that you may be over your head in this matter; but it’s your car, your choice. But again, I would like to stress the importance of having a harness bar when using a harness. SAFETY> AESTHETICS!!

Good luck!!

its cuz we are in the process of getting our shop to open next month, and we just picked up a drag crx so i dont have the time to be making rails rite now for the car. ill figure something out eventually

I’m using Bride RO rails, they fit perfectly. Like AV turn’d DA said, though, they’re not the cheapest option, but obviously the quality is excellent. I found a used set off Yahoo Japan, but shipping is the real killer. Still, I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

okay, money aint really an issue, i have a pretty decent budget…how did u mount the seatbelt? cuz i am going to use stock seatbelts still

I’ve got no idea about that, here in Australia we have manual seatbelts.

i used a planted seat rail and sliders from 425 motorsports to mount my Recaro. everything bolted up pretty well. im still using the stock auto belt, it works trust me. basicly i bored the rear mounting bolt hole out and used a bigger bolt, cranked it down as tight as poss, no problems yet. here a pic of it in the car, this is before i got the seat belt worked out. ill take a pic if you need it
