I have MSD wires, and one of them is broken at the distributor end. I have extra boots with connectors, it looks easy enough to just cut the broken end off and re-boot it. My question is do you just put the metal connector over the wire, or do you have to strip the wire?
you have to strip it down enough so you can bend the coil wire (the thick wire inside) so it makes constant contact with the metal. usually when you buy either the blaster 2 coil or the 8.5mm wire set, it comes with a cutting/crimping tool that marks exactly where you need to cut and makes it very easy to crimp. I have a couple of them in my garage but they’re not necessary becuase you can just eyeball it. let me know if this helps or you need further info.
My MSD wires have alot of cracks in them.
I took them all out.
As for your problem, It’s like biggbird says, just strip the silicone (not the inner wire) about a 1/2 inch, fold it back >, then crimp the metal piece on, and slide the boot back on.
