removal of radio trim

What is the easiest way to remove the radio surround and reassemble it. I took it off already, but it was very difficult. Seems as if the shifter needs to be taken out or dropped. It gets in the way and I can’t put the dash piece back in without bend it a lot. Any tips?

i just put the shifter as far back as it goes and yanked it out its not to hard!!!

shouldn’t be that hard, you did remove the shift knob right?
I removed mine a couple of times when working on the stereo and it’s easy.

ditto just take the knob off then put the car in fourth ( without being on ) and it will come right out

yes i did, it was very difficult, i have not yet got it installed because it felt like it was going to break. I had the shifter in 4th gear as well. Could it be because I have some BS short shifter, not sure what type but i think its a ebay shifter that came with the car.

looks like the short shifter might be installed backwards. when you shift to
3rd does your hand almost hit the radio? if it does your shifter might be backwards.

kinda, its far up there… like i have to reach quite far, but im going to try to switch it around see if that helps, because its like almost impossible to install that dash and i have done many radio installs and have never ran into such a difficult dash to install.
